The extra power and torque that power wheelchairs produce make it very ideal to be used by differently abled people who are very interested in sports despite their condition. Most of the differently abled people who love sport play either basketball or tennis or both. The more accurate manoeuvrability especially during turning together with the faster speed of power wheelchairs enable the user to move from on one point to another within the playing field quickly.

There is a popular sporting event held annually which is intended for people with handicap especially those who are crippled. This event is called the Special Olympics. Of course being crippled is not a matter of choice; they were victims of unwanted circumstances so we should not think that way as much as possible.

To ride on a power wheelchair is almost the same as having real legs. Besides, it is even much better compared to genuine legs because it does not feel tiredness even though you move around with it excessively during sports. You only need to recharge it after the day. Companies that manufacture power wheelchairs are indeed doing a good job in bringing back the life and energy to differently abled people with athletic spirits.
